let all bloggians be aware, when it's this late at night... and there is nothing to do, i look to blog. what about? lets see:
vacation
high school friends
goodbyes
blogoshpere
- vacation, not exactly sure what it means anymore. i'm always worried about something. but it is nice to be worried about something other than school work.
- hs friends, i've missed them. its nice to chat. we are getting old, and it is definitely a surprise how things have turned out. never would have guessed.
- goodbyes, more like see-ya-laters. kinda sucks, but, things get better. and goodbyes are never really for forever anyway. so, at the very least, we'll see you on the other side.
- blogoshpere, a great place for ventilation of the mind. catharsis if you will. something i have come to learn and love. now tis time for journal writing. sleep well bloggers...

being an art major
the glory
no real finals. with the exception of your religion or gen. ed. courses.
done tomorrow at 2. but, essentially, now.
get to have homework like: build this, make that, bend this, paint that, make something really cool out of glass...
you either listen to your ipod in the studio or listen to your computer at your house while doing homework.
more time for blogging.
you are always doing homework by "thinking up your next piece"
learn philosophy of art in every class.
the bane
long A classes.
time consuming.
LONG A CLASSES!
pretty taxing when it comes to being frustrated or fine. most of the time you're frustrated.
class scheduling is WACK!
they make you apply more than once.

left here
as i sit here listening to our heating working its magic, i ponder the posibilities of the future. such possibilities as: getting a's next semester, staying here all year round so i can serve a mission and not have the fact that i'm not in the bfa weigh on my mind, getting married....weird, having funny funny babies, growing old and being so so smart because i have experienced it all, etc.
i tear up every time i start to get overwhelmed with next semester. i feel underwhelmed now. and i would much rather just be whelmed...
[that was an allusion to 10 things i hate about you for those of you that both read this, and didn't get it....]

coming soon...
so, my best friends julie and brittney and i went on a little road trip this weekend. [please think of the viva las vegas song when you read the next two words...] RENOOOO Neh-vaada! thats right! we went to the so you think you can dance concert in reno. it was awesome. it was our first trip by ourselves and our first hotel room without a parent.
we went to ichiban for dinner. tahbinyahki yaaaah! hilarious. we told them it was britt's birthday and she got a candle in her ice cream. aren't restaurants supposed to treat their birthday guests with the utmost respect?? i don't get it. all she got was a candle... so depressing.
anyway, the night was awesome, and the road trip was even better. snow coming into salt lake though, kinda rough. i was really struggling to see the road. it was hard. but! i made it.
now, the whole coming soon thing is the album to go along with it. you gotta have pictures. those pictures, are coming as soon as my computer is fixed.... so there you go.

airports
how anyone gets anything accomplished in an airport, i do not know. the people watching is just overwhelmingly available. i could not write things down fast enough. there was a woman with a small boy. just learning how to walk. she was on the phone and pushing her rolie bag like a stroller. and her son was holding onto the bag and walking next to it. pretty funny. then an old man saw it and laughed. was trying to get his wife's attentiona but couldn't. he was looking back and forth between his wife and the baby. once he realized he had no chance in getting his wife's attention, he just stared with a smile at the baby... i enjoyed watching it all.
the same older couple, as i was walking out of san fran airport, was walking in front of me. as we were going up the escalator and he was worried about losing his wife. so he grabbed the collar of her jacket. really cute.
also, airports are a pain now... don't wear belts when flying... or shoes... or jackets... or bring your computer...

recent discovery
so, this morning i burnt the H out of my bagel. then realized i had no cream cheese. so, naturally i look for a substitute. i found the little triangle swiss cheeses i used to eat at my brother's house[katie, you know what i'm talking about!]. then, the brilliant idea strikes. spread the amazingly tastey and softy cheese on the bagel. so i did. it was fabulous. note to self: yummy little swiss cheeses are a substitute for buy-in-a-tub cream cheese. amazing.

things i notice... then smile.
walking to school last week, i believe it was thursday. i was walking into the jsb and saw a man on his cell phone. this is what i heard of his conversation.
" no! no, thats apples and... pick-up trucks! thats not even apples and oranges!"
he seemed pretty upset. but, pick-up trucks?? seriously?
waiting outside the same building, this week, i saw a girl who was all dressed up for some presentation. nice top, stinkin tight pencil skirt that was half slit, and black patent leather stilettos. these shoes were probably at least a size too big. there was about a half-inch of shoe behind her heel. also, with every step she took, she looked like she was about to topple over. the head bobbed and everything. pretty funny.
i asked reza aslan, author of No God but God, to sign my sketchbook because the bookstore was all sold out of his book. so, i had him sign an empty page of my book. this is what he wrote, " I did not write this book! -reza aslan" funny right? he was awesome. thats right, i have met and shaken hands with a man who has made appearances on both the daily show and the colbert report. i'm awesome.
my new favorite sculptor. liz larner. check her out. 3rd of 11 is my favorite.

i wonder if there is a way to indicate raspy-ness when writing a blog... i halfway lost my voice. it has been progressively worse and ridiculously drawn out.
okay, so, the weekend.
friday night- i saw regina spektor in concert. music was, as expected, fabulous. she as a person was, outrageously unexpected, crude and mean. weird right? such a tiny little person and yet such anger and language came out of her. lesson learned, i am not a concert goer.
saturday- football game! kind of uneventful. but fun. sat with julie the whole time. we discussed much. we, byu, won. it was pretty good.
saturday night- stake conference and a hang out session at le bourgeousie. fun boys. probably the highlight of the weekend.
sunday- stake conference. and le boys of le bourgeousie come to la casa de las mujeres del amazon. how you like dem apples?
sunday night- over to daniels to watch the fountain with rendon and jeremiah. good times.
ps- still don't have a voice... also, happy early birthday katie!!! love and miss you immensely!

tagged by liza...
okay, i know about 3 people on blog... and one of them got tagged by the same person i did... but, here's the deal...
you post six facts/details about yourself on your own blog. then, after that, you post 6 people that you are tagging. you leave those people a comment telling them to check it out and tag more people.... sound good? here goes nothin...
1- my sister and i used to tell our parents we had done our piano practicing when we hadn't. and when i was feeling mean, i would do mine, and refuse to make an agreement with her. she hated practicing....
2- i love practicing my signature and changing things up every once in a while.
3- i pretty much can write anything without using "pretty much" or "..."
4- i am an email junky.... i am obsessed...
5- i absolutely cannot stand it when the teacher erases something from the board and leaves stray, non-descript marks on the outskirts of where the original writing was...
6- last one... i want an enormously large belt buckle desperately...
there you go. i may be neurotic, but... i just can't help it...
jackie, you are my one and only... i know no one else....

a night worth while
so, after the rugby game, i'm feelin' sorta sportsy. so, i call up the ultimate in sports friends. the one, the only, the only girl i know who is obsessed with both peyton manning and the colts- Alexandra Ahern. she and her roommate were planning on going to the soccer game. so, i call up my soccer cousin. the one, the only, the chick whose high school 4a team just won state championships- Kaci McNeil.
i pick up kaci from her home in orem. and she and i head back to my house so i can spritz my perfume-blackberry amber, bath and body works-and so i can change my shoes. kacers and i head to the game, find the most perfect parking spot, and walk on to the pitch. i probably didn't need to pay for kaci, seeing as how she was supposed to get in on my all sports pass. but! i did anyway, because i'm a nice cousin. we find my friends alex, shara, becca, and shara's boy grant. we have a little sit and begin the watching of the game.
the excitement is tangible as the soccer chicks run across the field with small, fist size, pure white somethings in their hand. A FREE T-SHIRT! something any college student would do absolutely anything for. whether it be pretending to be paralyzed for a day, or do 60 hours of service at a cattle ranch. everyone in the stands...well, stands, and we all yell and scream at the top of our lungs to try and catch what they are throwing at us... until we realize... what it is exactly they are throwing...... a severe disappointment. only a tiny, all white soccerball. dumb, right? we sit down. and the second we do, the national anthem starts. and we stand back up.
as everyone begins to sing the national anthem, we realize something. we are at byu, and we're mormon. why aren't we harmonizing!? and so it begins. the beautiful song that is our anthem. one could only hope we could live up to maya rudolph in her rendition as pamela bell from schnooks.
half-time comes to an end when suddenly, out of nowhere, a random man, wearing a blue and white sweatsuit starts running in front of the stands. he has something small and white as well. but we don't get our hopes up.... but wait! what is this? can it be? the t-shirt toss we have all been waiting for??? small white t-shirts held together by cheapie rubber bands!!! yes! yes it is! once again, the crowd rises. as if about to salute the flag yet another time. we are all on our feet, screaming like a ghetto of banchees for these t-shirts. neither me, nor my friends are lucky. we shall just have to come to another game...
the game was unscored as kaci and i left early. just to be sure she could get to her halloween dance on time. or rather, fashionably late. i later found out we won the game against new mexico. 1-0. not much in relation to other, better sports. but, a kill for the cougars. nicely done ladies. nicely done.

the rugby game
its a friday night at byu. nothing going on except for tentative plans for international cinema. suddenly, my roommate and i get the inspiration to call in an order for cafe rio. truly an inspired thought. she gets a bean, rice and cheese burrito due to her vegetarianism. i order the pork barbacoa quesadilla with lettuce, sour cream, and quacamole. we pick it up at the designated time, and bring it back to the house. we pop in a prairie home companion and begin the evening.
then, i get a phone call from a friend who asks me if i so desire to go to the rugby game. and i do, so she and her friend pick me up and we head to the field. now, everyone needs to understand a little about the game of rugby... the goal of the game is to see who can be wearing the shortest shorts on the field. none of the cal poly players seemed to understand this. they were all wearing normal length shorts. but, the byu players... they seemed to take this rule to the nth degree. i felt like i was watching a women's volleyball game. these shorts were, quite literally, booty shorts. i felt like i was being exposed. and i played water polo. i saw more than is necessary for any person, at any time. these men were running around, tackling each other, and making noises someone might make while attempting to lay and egg. it was wholly entertaining. my friends and i gave the award of shortest shorts to number four. congratulations. whoever you are. you win. please boast as much as possible. please.

bee boo boop boo bee boo boop
so, the office. oh yes. that's what i'm talkin 'bout! i am saddened, however, that we are back to half hour episodes. also, i have a theory... i believe that this is the last season of the office. sad, i know. but i think its a fact.
all is well. didn't go to my figure drawing class today. couldn't handle it. went to sensuous sandwiches. best sandwiches ever. that's right, i got "the satisfier". chicken and pepper jack cheese. mad goodness.

task avoiding
so, i have been lying on my bed... actually asleep for 10 minutes, half asleep for the prior 5o. time is wasting away... with a 100 question long, take-home midterm due in 14.5 hours, i'm thinking this is not such a great idea. so, naturally, i get on the computer and decide to waste some more time.
provo is not all its cut out to be. college is. provo is not. i love being on my own, i love my classes. however, provo is the sort of town where all you have to do is look out your window, see a couple walking down the street, and immediately your internal societal views say you should be sad you don't have someone to walk down the street with. it's bogus.
also, this town needs some serious clean-up. i was driving back from sandy this morning, and i could not see the base of any of the mountains. the smog out here is ridiculous. its called recycling. and its called community awareness. stop being so selfish and ignorant, utah rezzies.
that is all. time for an eternally long test...
