a night worth while

so, after the rugby game, i'm feelin' sorta sportsy. so, i call up the ultimate in sports friends. the one, the only, the only girl i know who is obsessed with both peyton manning and the colts- Alexandra Ahern. she and her roommate were planning on going to the soccer game. so, i call up my soccer cousin. the one, the only, the chick whose high school 4a team just won state championships- Kaci McNeil.
i pick up kaci from her home in orem. and she and i head back to my house so i can spritz my perfume-blackberry amber, bath and body works-and so i can change my shoes. kacers and i head to the game, find the most perfect parking spot, and walk on to the pitch. i probably didn't need to pay for kaci, seeing as how she was supposed to get in on my all sports pass. but! i did anyway, because i'm a nice cousin. we find my friends alex, shara, becca, and shara's boy grant. we have a little sit and begin the watching of the game.
the excitement is tangible as the soccer chicks run across the field with small, fist size, pure white somethings in their hand. A FREE T-SHIRT! something any college student would do absolutely anything for. whether it be pretending to be paralyzed for a day, or do 60 hours of service at a cattle ranch. everyone in the stands...well, stands, and we all yell and scream at the top of our lungs to try and catch what they are throwing at us... until we realize... what it is exactly they are throwing...... a severe disappointment. only a tiny, all white soccerball. dumb, right? we sit down. and the second we do, the national anthem starts. and we stand back up.
as everyone begins to sing the national anthem, we realize something. we are at byu, and we're mormon. why aren't we harmonizing!? and so it begins. the beautiful song that is our anthem. one could only hope we could live up to maya rudolph in her rendition as pamela bell from schnooks.
half-time comes to an end when suddenly, out of nowhere, a random man, wearing a blue and white sweatsuit starts running in front of the stands. he has something small and white as well. but we don't get our hopes up.... but wait! what is this? can it be? the t-shirt toss we have all been waiting for??? small white t-shirts held together by cheapie rubber bands!!! yes! yes it is! once again, the crowd rises. as if about to salute the flag yet another time. we are all on our feet, screaming like a ghetto of banchees for these t-shirts. neither me, nor my friends are lucky. we shall just have to come to another game...
the game was unscored as kaci and i left early. just to be sure she could get to her halloween dance on time. or rather, fashionably late. i later found out we won the game against new mexico. 1-0. not much in relation to other, better sports. but, a kill for the cougars. nicely done ladies. nicely done.
